Davido wins Big at MAMAs 2014 In SA


Gobe crony, Nigerian Davido join Uhuru, Mafilozolo and Clarence Peters to win big at the MAMAs’ award in SA last night.

Mafikizolo who were nominated 4 times triumphed in the Best Group Category and Song of The Year. Davido was crowned Best Male and Artist of the Year, while Uhuru was given the Best Collaboration for his part in Y’-tjukuja’ ft. Oskido, DJ Bucks, Professor and Yuri Da Cunha, and in Song of the Year. Nigerian prolific video director, Clarence Peters won two awards – Transform Today by Absolut and Best Video.

Kenya actress Lupita Nyong’o won in the newly introduced lifestyle award categories for Personality of the Year, while the inaugural MTV Base Leadership award was won by Tanzanian entrepreneur Ashish J. Thakkar.

An emotional moving acoustic guitar tribute to the late great, former South African President and African Icon Nelson Mandela by Afro Soul star, Simphiwe Dana, whose performance was in front of a giant time lapse video artwork by street artist Rasty.


The event culminated with all the artist assembled on stage for a medley of French Montana songs including “Pop “ and “Ain’t Worried About Nothin!”
