There are claims that Nigerian Petroleum
Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke has been nominated by Nigeria to succeed current
OPEC’s long-standing Secretary – General Abdullah El-Badri. This claim was made
by Iraqi Oil Minister, Abdelkarim AL-Luaybi in Vienna, home to the Organization
of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) headquarters.
The Nigerian Government is however yet to
comment on the matter, a vote for the position is not due until December this
year.
If this is true its great news. Under her
reign as petroleum Minister, there have been fewer fuel scarcities and no fuel
hike in price by the Federal Government. I may be wrong but I stand to be
corrected.
