Luis Suárez ‘bite’ leaves Swedish gamblers counting their winnings

Some gamblers were so sure Luis Suarez was going to bite someone during the world cup that they were willing to place a bet on it. Unbelievable! And they were dead right, sorry, Cash right.

While the Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini reacted with horror after appearing to be bitten by the Uruguay striker Luis Suárez in their World Cup match, a handful of gamblers in Scandinavia were celebrating as their unlikely bet was paid out on.

The online bookmaker Betsafe had been offering odds of 175-1 that the Uruguayan, twice banned for biting, would sink his teeth into an opponent during the World Cup in Brazil. Sure enough, more than 100 gamblers decided that it was worth a punt. When Suárez seemingly did just that to Chiellini near the end of their Group D clash in Natal, it was time to celebrate.

One winner, Jonathan Braeck from Stenungssund in Sweden, bet 80 Swedish krona (£7) that Suárez would bite, and the 23-year-old substitute teacher is now set for a payout of 14,000 krona (£1,225) for his wager.

Super Eagles Victorious in defeat: Becomes First African Team to Qualify for the Knockout Round

The Super Eagles were beaten by Argentina in an entertaining game of football that kept everyone on their seats for 93 minutes.

A goal from Argentina’s Lionel Messi and an equalizer from Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa made history in the World Cup as the first time two oppositing countries would score within the first five minutes of a world cup match.

Joseph Yobo also made history for himself for having his 100 cap for Nigeria.

Argentina won the game 3 – 2 with Messi scoring a brace. Nigerian Musa also scored a brace in the match too. Messi scored his second at the end of the first half with a well taking free kick which beat Nigerian Super keeper, Vincent Enyeama who made some spectacular saves in the match to keep Nigerian in contention.

Another Ritualist Den Discovered, in Lagos this time

P.M. News is reporting that a ritualists’ den has been discovered in Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The den, where kidnapped children and adults were allegedly kept as hostages was found beside a church, Holy Family Church, situated in the remote area of the town.

A member of the church who spoke with our correspondents said that the discovery was made Wednesday morning when a lady was caught with two children kept inside a Ghana-must-go sack by residents of the area. The children, four years old were found alive and tied with a rope.

Before the lady was handed over to the police, she allegedly confessed to the residents that her blood was being used by the owner of the church for ritual and was asked to bring the two children for replacement.

UPDATE ON THE ABUJA BOMB BLAST

There was a bomb blast in Abuja this afternoon at around 4pm.

The blast was said to have happened in Emab Plaza in Abuja. 21 people have been reported dead and 17 injured.

Over 17 cars were also destroyed in the blast.

The police is said to have arrest a man in connection with the blast.

Edo Lawmakers Now holding Session Under Umbrella

Following the fracas that occurred in the Edo State House of Assembly, the situation has now deteriorated to what can be best described as a ridiculous dimension, as this morning members held two parallel sessions in front of the main entrance gate of the assembly complex.

Factions of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP each held different sessions and had to be adjourned to two different days of next week. This was because both sessions were held outside the burning Sun.

The APC faction was presided over by the Speaker, Uyi Igbe while the PDP faction was presided by suspended speaker, Festus Ebea and the PDP members had their heads covered with PDP customized umbrellas.

Well, since both factions can claim to forming a quorum, they can be said to be valid. But this is indeed ridiculous.

BREAKING NEWS: BOMB BLAST IN ABUJA - AIT

There has been a bomb blast in a shopping mall in Abuja. From what AIT reported, scores of cars were destroyed. There are no indications if people were inside the cars. The numbers of casualties are however unknown.

After robbing a home, Nicholas on June 19 decided to use the computer in the house before fleeing the property. Only one problem, he forgot to sign out.

So when the owner of the home, James Wood, returned and found his place had been ransacked, he reported it to police, missing was cash, credit cards and a watch, but he found a pair of jeans, a belt and some Nike tennis shoes.

Ejected Police Widows Decry Ordeal – this is what wives of policemen killed in active duties go through

I saw this story in P.M. News and I felt so bad. Please read it and see what some of the families of Police officers who were killed serving their country, Nigeria are going through. What a shame!

Over two weeks after some widows living at the barracks of the Mobile Police Unit 20, commanded by Olubode Ojajuni, a Chief  Superintendent of Police, CSP, who was a onetime Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, the pains and anguish seem to have continued unabated among the victims.

Some of them are still struggling to have a roof under their heads with their children, while some still have their properties scattered all over the barracks.

Speaking about her experience, Mrs. Stella Mubo, wife of the late Inspector Simon Mubo, an indigene of Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State said:  “It was on Wednesday May 20, 2014, we the widows in Mopol 20 Barracks were invited by the commander, Mopol 20, CSP Ojajuni. We went to his office at Oduduwa GRA with high hopes that probably good things were coming on our way, being widows whose husbands died in active duty, and still awaiting the benefits and entitlements due to our husbands.

“But rather, we got a shocking news of our lives from Ojajuni that we should pack out with immediate effect. We appealed to him to give us time because he told us to move out on Saturday, the same week he called us, because we have not been paid our husband’s benefits. He said he does not want to hear or know that we have not been paid.

Second, worry doesn’t work. To worry about something you can’t change is useless. And to worry about something you can change is stupid. Just go change it!

FIFA to Investigate Suarez biting allegation – picture and video don’t lie FIFA

FIFA has announced it will investigate the latest allegations of biting against Luis Suarez with Liverpool’s Uruguay striker likely to face a lengthy ban if found guilty.

Suarez appeared to bite Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini towards the end of Uruguay’s 1 – 0, leaving teeth-marks on the defender’s shoulder.

A FIFA spokesperson said: "We are awaiting the official match reports and will gather all the necessary elements in order to evaluate the matter."

FIFA's disciplinary code sets a maximum ban of 24 matches or two years, but the longest ban in World Cup history was eight games for Italy's Mauro Tassotti for breaking Spain's Luis Enrique's nose in 1994 with an elbow.

Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) speaks about the Missing Plane

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, is reporting that the four-seater airplane owned by Global Aviation that took off Monday from Kano at 6 PM and was to arrive at Douala, Cameroon by 11 PM did not disappear in Nigeria’s airspace.

An officer of NAMA who preferred to remain anonymous revealed that the aircraft had been handed over to the Cameroonian authorities before the incident occurred.

Punch Newspaper reports that the official revealed that “the incident happened in Cameroonian airspace and it is not something that has to do with us here in Nigeria.”

If you recall, the News Agency of Nigerian was first to report that the plane had disappeared, stating they got the information from Cameroon aviation sources.

The plane did not make it to Douala. Search and rescue operations are still underway but no positive results have been indicated yet.

Bank Staff forced to Testify against Bank Boss

A former bank staff has testified how he was forced to give false accusation against one of his boss. This is how Punch is reporting the story:

A former staff of Keystone Bank, Mr Uguru Onyike, Tuesday told a Lagos High Court in Ikeja, western Nigeria, that he was coerced to make false allegations of forgery against a former Managing Director of Bank PHB, Francis Atuche.

Onyike, a former head of operations of the bank’s Central Shared Services(CSS) Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos  made the claim while testifying before Justice Lateefat Okunnu at the resumed trial of Atuche.

The former bank MD and his wife, Elizabeth, are being prosecuted for allegedly stealing N25.7 billion belonging to Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Also charged with them is a former Chief Financial Officer of the bank, Ugo Anyanwu.

Onyike who was led in evidence by Atuche’s counsel, Mr Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), said on 4 March, 2013, one of his staff,Mr Joachim Nnosiri, brought to his attention three documents which were earlier subpoenaed by Okunnu in Atuche’s trial.

This is just unbelievable! Luis Suarez after bagging a 10 match ban in the EPL for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, has done it again. In Uruguay's final group match with Italy, Suarez was caught on camera biting Italian defender Chiellini.

"These are exceptional circumstances, it is the third time he has bitten someone. It is ridiculous.

Health Scare: Suya could give you Cancer

According to a Professor of Nutrition and Director of Academic Planning at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Ignatius Onimawo, there is a strong link between consumption of suya and increased risk of cancer.

He reportedly adviced that consumption of suya garnished with lots of onions and other vegetable, has a “strong cancer-lowering effect.”

Professor Ignatius explains how this possible:

“During preparation of suya, the meat is cooked over an open fire and oils from the meat undergo complex chemical reactions that produce toxins that are carcinogenic (cancer-causing) in nature.
