This is not right

Though we are a sporting Blog but we can not but comment on the recent killings of four aspiring young students of the University of Port-Harcourt by the Aluu Community in Rivers state. Nigeria is gradually becoming a state where there is little or no regards for life. The way and manner in which these boys were brutally killed speaks volumn of our conscience and humanity.
In the past few years, it's been, the more you steal in and from Government, the easier it is to get away with it, now its becoming the more gruesome the manner you kill, the more easier to get away with it.
The police we were told by one of the mothers in the interview she granted Channels News said, had the police been up to their duties, the situation would have ended differently as the police were at the scene of the incident when they were still beating them, when asked why they did nothing, they said, they didn't have enough bullets and were out-numbered. But when the bodies of the boys were about to be burnt after they had been killed, warning shots fired into the air by the officers of the Joint Task Force was what disperse the crown and enabled the families to carry their dead bodies. Why didn't the police do this initially. Nobody in that crowd had a gun, just sticks. Was it really because the police felt that the community was in their right to excute justice as they see fit because of all the numerous complains of stealing and rape that had been levied against the University students by the Aluu community which they couldn't investigate or make any arrest for?
This kind of policing is unacceptable in any civilized country except Nigeria has seize to be one. It is also sad that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is yet to make any statement or comments about the killings, something I know President Obama wouldn't have done.
Nigerians are waiting for justice but going by precedence, we advice them not to keep their fingers crossed. For there have been too many killings in the past and nothing has been done. Until the Nigeria Government begin to treat the lifes of their citizenry as sacred, this kinds of actions will not cease from the land.
We recommend the follow:
The arrest and prosecution of the Chief of Aluu community
The arrest and prosecution of every individual involved in the killings of those innocent young men (That shouldn't be too hard for the police, the video is there for everyone to see)
The removal and dismissal of all the police men and women on duty that day from the police force.
These actions would not bring back the boys but would go a long way to easy the grieving hearts of their family and love ones. We also use this medium to spend our condolence to the families of these boys and especially their parents. We have un-confirmed reports that one of the mothers of these boys has just died, we sincerely hope this isn't true.
Can justice ever come to Nigeria, we wait and see.

  2. I am one of the unlucky people to see the barbaric video of the brutality meted out on those innocent guys. and I must confess it was a mistake. We have lost it in this country, still cant imagine the joy those people involved in the brutality derived. how can we rejoice in the madness of a few law breakers in Aluu community? Nobody man or woman deserve to die that way no matter the crime. I cant get the pictures of those guys out of my mind and it'll take forever to get it out. I hope students will learn from these, stay in school to do your book work that's the reason your parents spend so much on you, that way you wont make your family and friends suffer for your foolishness. especially when it involves good kids. Only God can save us in this country because the government is sleeping and I don't think they are ready to wake up. A week after the IG of police has not said a word, the president of 9ja is too busy with the budget to talk about the real issues that needs attention. So sad! Sobs.
