Spain wins, Nigeria loss - Confederation Cup Group B

No vex

Spain were in no mood to be charitable, racking up a double-figure scoreline against the French Polynesian side to edge towards a spot in the last four.

World Cup champion Spain routed the Pacific islanders from Tahiti 10-0 on Thursday at the Confederations Cup - a result that wasn't as bad as some had suggested beforehand.
Fernando Torres, who missed a penalty late in the match, scored four goals. David Villa added three goals, David Silva, two and Juan Mata one.

Uruguayan Veteran Forlan smashes home winner gave Uruguay a 2 – 1 victory over a spirited Nigeria side.

The Internacional forward proved decisive as he guided la Celeste to a vital victory over the Super Eagles in his 100th appearance for the national team.
Uruguay picked up a hugely important three points in Group B of the Confederations Cup as they defeated Nigeria 2-1 at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
Forlan's deflected cross was unintentionally dummied by Edinson Cavani at the near post and an unmarked Lugano scuffed the ball into the back of the net.
John Obi Mikel equalised with a fine finish but in the second half Diego Forlan marked his 100th cap for the national team with the winning goal, as Stephen Keshi's men paid the price for failing to test Fernando Muslera for much of the game.

Nigeria will now have to win their final group match against World Champion Spain or force a draw to book a place in the Semis as Uruguay is sure to beat Tahiti but they must do so with more than 6 goals or better the scoreline of Nigeria and Tahiti match to qualify. Nigeria defeated Tahiti by 6 goals to 1.

World Champion Spain, Italy and Brazil have already qualified for the semi finals.
