Fernando
Torres has dismissed the idea of moving to Barcelona and says he
hopes Jose Mourinho can make him the best striker in the world again.
The Spaniard has largely been poor in a blue shirt since his
£50million move from Liverpool in January 2011.
During the last three months of the season he seemed to be gaining
some confidence and form but still nothing near the goal threat he
was back at Anfield.
In
a wide-ranging interview with Spanish news site AS, Torres spoke of
his hopes for next season.
I want to continue, I want to complete the contract I signed and
continue winning trophies and I would like to be the best in the
world in my position again,' he explained.
'There’s no better place than to be than at Chelsea with
Mourinho.'
He continued: 'His (Jose's) words motivate me. He’s said he
doesn’t want to speak with the players that are in this tournament
(Confederations Cup) until it’s over.
'We will meet soon, he will explain what he thinks of me and my
situation, and I’ll tell him what I think.
His trophies and achievements speak for himself. Not all the best
coaches have been footballers.
'If you start to think about the players that have been in his
teams, the strikers, they have all had great years.
When asked about a potential £20m move to Barcelona, Torres said
he appreciated the link but wanted to remain in west London.
Smart move Torres.
