Brazil Out With A “Bang” 1-7 To Germany

World Cup host and 5 times World Cup winners, Brazil were beaten 7-1 in the first Semi-finals of the 2014 world cup by ruthless Germany.

Brazil came into the match with two of their key players out of the encounter. Neymar with an injury was ruled out of the tournament and caption Thiago with a suspension.

But it was the way the other 11 players crumble in the face of energetic German opposition that would be on concern to the Brazilian national coach Solari for days if not months to come.

This was Brazil’s worst defeat in a world cup and coming in the semis was unbelievable.

Barely just 11 mins into the match, Brazil conceded the first of many soft goals as Muller was allowed time and space to jab in within the six meter box and put the Germans ahead.
And then what followed was what could only have been imagined, and yes even in the minds of the German players, it wouldn’t have seem possible.

Six minutes of sheer pleasure for the Germans, madness and outer disbelieve in the part of the Brazilian players and fans respectively.

In just 6 mins Brazil conceded 4 goals; the Brazil defense was in complete disarray, disorganized, clueless, everyone was marking everybody and yet no was defending.

The goals just kept coming in one after another, leaving the Brazilian fans speechless, eyes all tear up and mouth opened. They just could believe what they were seeing. With less than 30 minutes played, the team, the one they had hope will win this world cup and remove the memory of Brazil losing at the finals of the …world cup to Uruguay were 5 goals down, yes you heard me right, 5 goals down.

Goals from Klose (29’), Kross (24’, 26’), Khedira (29’) and later in the second half from Schurrle, who had just come in as a second half substitute (69’,79’).

Polish born and German player Klose with his second goal for Germany thus becomes the “Highest Goal Scorer In The History Of The World Cups with 16 goals” beating the great Brazilian Ronaldo who held that record with 15 goals before. In fact that was one of the main reasons he was selected to play at this world cup and he has not disappointed. He scored the equalizer against Ghana coming in as a substitute in that match.

Brazil’s only goal came in the 90minute from the boots of Oscar and this was after the Germans had in the first 30 minutes of the second half allowed Brazil to pressed with the Brazilian players unable to score chance after chance. The Brazilian fans didn’t know how to show their appreciation for the goal, they just got up and shouted.

Germany thus put themselves in the best place to win the 2014 world cup as they wait for the winner of today 2nd semifinal between Argentina and The Netherlands.

What went wrong with the Brazilian team? A lot but that’s for another day.
