Another birth, another record broken-British expat gives birth to 13lb 3oz girl WITHOUT an epidural

A British expat has given birth to the biggest baby to ever be delivered naturally in Spain.
The girl born yesterday, whose name has not yet been released, weighed in at 13lbs 3ozs (6.02kg) - almost twice the size of the average newborn.

Maxime Marin became the first woman in Spain to give birth naturally to a baby heavier than four kilos.

Remarkably Mrs Marin, 40, did not require an epidural during the delivery, Spanish media reported.
The Marina Salud Hospital at Denia, north of Benidorm, on the Costa Blanca, announced the record-breaking birth today.

In case you are wondering what an epidural is; it is term often associated with techniques frequently used by physicians to administer diagnostic (local anaesthetic included). This result in a loss of sensation-including the sensation of pain.

This woman are doing almost the impossible and with such ease. Am happy all the delivery took place in the hospital under supervision. They were not trying to break any records, just giving birth. I wonder how these women manages to push this babies out without anaesthetic, when just pushing a normal size baby can be a serious burden.

Mothers, through whatever means you have your children, I salute you.
