Dortmund pulls a miracle, Madrid loses but progresses to the Semis
Borussia Dortmund pulled a miracle when it came from a goal down to beat Malaga 3 - 2 on aggregate.
The first leg had ended scoreless a week ago in Spain. Malaga took the lead in the second leg when Joaquin scored in the 25th minutes. Dortmund equalized in the 40th minute through Robert Lewandowski, only for Malaga to take the lead again through Eliseu in the 82 minute.
Malaga was then coasting for a famous upset and Dortmund must have started regretting all the missed chances they had in the first leg only for Marco Reus to level the score in the 90 minute and then Santana Felipe Augusto score the winner in added time. What would have been a great upset win for Malaga turned out to be a sad moment in their football history. Dortmund book their place in the Champions League Semi-Final with a 3-2 aggregate.
Reactions of both coaches
Real Madrid also book there place in the Semi-Final with an aggregate scoreline of 5-3. Madrid opened the scoring in the 7th minute through their tallise man, Cristiano Ronaldo. Galatasaray equalized through Emmanuel Eboue in the 57th minute, and then Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba scored a goal each to take Galatasaray 3-1 up. Didier Drogba had a goal disallowed for offside. Madrid substitute Alvaro Arbeloa was sent off in the 90 minute after picking up his second yellow card in as many minutes. Ronaldo then reduced the tally when he scored his second of the night and Madrid second to reduce tothe scores to 3-2.
