Frank
Lampard took a huge step towards proving his fitness for the new
season by powering home a trademark strike as Chelsea's pre-season
campaign ended with victory against Roma.
The
veteran midfielder thumped home from the edge of the box midway
through the second half to equalise Eric Lamela's comical opener
before Romelu Lukaku helped his bid to start next weekend's opener
against Hull with a late winner.
Lampard,
who has missed the majority of the Chelsea's pre-season with an
Achilles injury, now looks almost certain to be available for
selection in next Sunday's visit of Steve Bruce's side.
Chelsea
were denied two penalty appeals before the Stamford Bridge side found
the winner their second half display warranted when Ba set-up Lukaku
who prodded home, via a deflection off Marquinho, after Hazard's
strong run down the left with just two minutes left to play.
More
victories, just one loss. Excellent.
