Super
Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi, has admitted that he will leave
Chelsea this summer for Galatasaray.
In
the past few weeks, the Blues player has been linked with a move to
the Turkish champions, who have reportedly made him their number one
transfer target.
It
is believed that Jose Mourinho has also told the 26-year-old Nigeria
international, that he doesn’t feature in his plans at Stamford
Bridge.
“I
have played at Chelsea for a long time and it’s now time for me to
leave,” Mikel told Sabah.
“I’m
still only 26 and it’s great to receive an offer from a club
[Galatasaray] playing Champions League football and doing well in the
competition.”
Galatasaray
will be ready to pay more than £7million for Obi, although Chelsea
may demand up to £10million. The player is expecting that to be
settled soon.
“Talks
have reached an advanced level between Chelsea and Galatasaray.
Chelsea won’t make the move difficult and regarding my salary there
won’t be a problem. All that is left is for the clubs to reach an
agreement.”
Thanks Mikel for the years, we will miss you.
