Many atimes when figures of the victims of the
senseless killings by the devilish sect Boko Haram are released, they just
look like numbers, that is until a face is attached to these figures that the
reality of the evil that is Boko Haram becomes manifested.
Meet Lydia Komolafe, One of the seven students of
the Medical Laboratory Science Department of the University of Jos, who was killed
in the twin bomb explosion at the Terminal Market in Jos, Plateau State.
Lydia had in weeks preceding her untimely death lamented
the alarming rate of terrorist attack in the country via twitter.
On May 19, a day before she lost her own life in the
deadly blast, Lydia had taken to twitter to pray for a brighter and rewarding
week. Her post read “This week, I shall be satisfied with favour.”
In another tweet she condemned the Federal
Government for allowing the insurgency to thrive by playing the ethnic and
political card from the outset, while also expressing her concerns that Nigerians
were no longer safe in motor parks.
One of her other tweets read. “They ignore the red
flag for terrorism when it started earlier in Jos and Kaduna. Nobody cared.
They called it all kind of names. They called it religion, ethnic, political. We
suffered in silence. They shuts us up!. Now it’s coming closer ‘home,’ the seat
of government and everyone is crying wolf! If only we had curbed it earlier!”
She also showed her concern for the abducted Chibok
school girls and join the campaign for their released
“Nobody should be punished for going to school!
There’s no basis to this kidnap! Our hearts are breeding. Please bring them
alive! May the angels protect them wherever they may be, she wrote in another
tweet.
Lydia Komolafe is no more with us, not because she
grew old; finished her university degree, got married and had kids of her own
but because a devilish sect didn’t care whether she lived or not and is it that
same sect some Nigerians are asking the Federal Government to negotiate with?
When criminals are caught, they are sentence to
jail, when murderers are caught, they are sent to life in prison, so why should
we now negotiate with mass murderers, is that the justice to give to all the
innocent souls lost and their loves ones left behind? Is that the legacy and
dividend of democracy?
Even today, Boko Haram still continued their killing
spread, killing more innocent Nigerians in the North and even police and
military men. This is a group with no sense of remorse and yet people are
asking for negotiations and possible amnesty. My Lord, how again did we arrive
at this position in our political life, that all our politicians think about is
using innocent lives for political gains. GodHelpNigeria.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
