Were attempt made to fix the Nigeria friendly against Scotland? See for yourself

There were already reports before the Nigerian – Scotland match of match fixing allegations, which of course were vehemently denied by all the authorities concerned. But that did not stop watchers from paying close attention to the match, so it was shocking to witness an incident during the match that suggested there could have been some suspicious move by one of the Nigerian players to that effect.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Austin Ejide became center of attention during the Nigeria – Scotland match.

During the match, Austin Ejide was alleged to have attempted to score an own goal which was cancelled by the English Premier League referee, Lee Probert who had seen a foul committed by Scottish player Grant Hanley. However, the incident didn’t go unnoticed.

The incident happened when Nigerian goalkeeper, Austin Ejide came out to catch the ball during a routine corner kick, it looked like he had grabbed the ball easily and firmly but then appeared to throw the ball into his own net. The Scottish players look amused for a while before starting the goal celebration. The goal was however cancelled.

Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi was furious about the allegation and said his wards where not gamblers, they were footballers and rejected the notion that anything sinister had taken place.

Nigeria still went on to concede an another own goal in the same match that counted, the match ended 2 - 2.
