Nigerian Banks still ‘stealing’ money from their customers.

The high rate at which Nigerian Banks keep milking customers off their hard earned money is gradually becoming "skin to their leopards" as FCMB has decided to go about this dubious culture in a new dimension.

Some days ago, many FCMB customers were intimated through mail that a #100 annual debit card maintenance fee will be deducted from every customer's account and subsequent years would be deducted every December. Although parting with this amount seems too small to complain about but it accumulates considering the number of customer base the bank has.

According to a banker who pleaded anonymity, these kinds of charges should not be new to Nigerians as this is just one of the million ways banks rob its customers; so as to generate money to be able to boast about having the highest turn over and profit amongst themselves at the end of each financial year. It is a case of robbing peter to pay paul."How do you expect us to get paid at the end of the month if all of these charges are not there?" the banker asked.

"This is just one of the corrupt ways of making money off customers; what maintenance is being done on my debit card that warrants a deduction of #100? With an assumed customer base of 50000,y ou can do the maths....its really disappointing!", an affected customer who got the mail complained on facebook.

Over 80% of people do not have the interest in calculating every kobo that leaves their accounts in the disguise of charges not to talk of other numerous pointless deductions. You get to the bank and before you know it, the round figure you deposited has been reduced by some naira and kobo. Hey!,when you multiply those deductions by millions of customers, then you have the mathematic theory and systematical method of robbery.

Can someone please tell me how banks maintain our debit cards?
