Crystal Gospel Awards 2014 - Celebrating Gospel Artistry


There was much celebration as Crystal Gospel Awards 2014 came to town. Muscon Centre, Lagos was the host of the second edition of the Crystal Gospel Awards 2014, tagged ''second year of inspiration'' which was held on Sunday night.

Twenty-nine awards were handed out to some of the best contemporary Gospel artists in Nigerian at the Crystal Gospel Awards 2014.
The biggest winners of the night were PITA who won the “Artiste of the Year and Best Praise Song'' while Frank Edwards received the “Best Male Vocalist and Most Notable Achievement Awards.''

Special Awards were handed out to Wale Oni – ''Crystal Icon Award''; Sammie Okposo - ''Lifetime Achievement Award''; Pastor Joseph Adelakun – ''Evergreen Award'' and Mr Omax Eshareturi – ''Crystal Humanitarian Award''

Lara George won the Best Female Vocalist
Nikki Laoye won Best Worship Song with ''Only You''
Mike Abdul won Song of the Year with ''Morire''
Tehila Crew won Best Choir
IBK Spacehipboi won for Best Rap/Hip Hop
Grace Assembly Choir won Best Choir
Eben won Album of the Year with ''Justified''
Preve won Best new Artiste
Ayo won Best Video with ''You are Great'' featuring Joe Praize
Okiki Jesu won Best Traditional Gospel
Wilson Joel won Best Producer
Buchi won Best Reggae – was there ever a competition in this category (am just saying, Buchi all the way)
Yinka Davids won for Best Video Director (Really!)
DJ Gosporella won Best On-air Personality
Lawrence Ikiri won Best Male Artiste in Diaspora
Isabella won for Best Female Artiste in Diaspora
Joe Praize won for Best Rock
Mike Aremu won Best Use of Instrument
Akpororo won Comedian of the Year (Well deserved)
Obiwon won for Best Collabo with ''Hail my Kind'' featuring Frank Edwards, Eben and Kenny K'ore
Henrisoul won Best Urban/Inspiration with ''Badman''

An emotional tribute was done for the late Kefee (Branama queen), who died this year, by Anny Ibrahim and Nikki Laoye.
Another major highlight was when the CEO of Praiseworld Radio, went on his knees just before he presented an award with his girlfriend, Mabel Okarofor on stage to proposed to her – she naturally said yes to cheers from the audience.

There were performances from Franks Edwards, Tehila Crew, Chika 100%, Okiki Jesu and comedian Akpororo.
Nollywood actress Doris Simion and upcoming comedian Grand Komanda hosted the event.

The glorious event was birthed by the trio of Pastor Timi Adegoke, Victor Igbinigie and Pastor Adenkan Adebayor to celebrate Gospel Music in Nigeria.
