The head of the Army, General Sameh Seif Elyazal made the announcement removing President Morsi from office and suspending the constitution.
The
head of the constitutional court, Adly Mansour to take over running of the goverment.
President
Morsi was removed after days of massive protest for and against his
government. The military had given him a 48 hour ultimatum to resolve
the issues or run the risk of being taken over by them. Which
has now happened. This is the first time in the history of Egypt
where a democratically elected government will be removed from office.
Again,
they are not calling it a coup even though supporters of Morsi and
Morsi himself via his twitter page has said it is a coup.
President
Morsi was removed from office just after 18 months in power.
There
is huge celebrations in Egypt with gun shot and fire works noise sounding every
where.
I
want to understand something, who defines democratically elected
government?, its the people and when the people now feels that you no longer represent them, they can decide to call you back, just like they
do a legislative officer; house of representative or senate member,
same they should be able to do to the President, as has now happened
with President Morsi. The people who elected him no more wants him to
represent them because according to them, he did not represent them
well. Brilliant. That to me is true DEMOCRACY.
