Jay
Z tried to drop the punctuation mark from his name before, but this
time it better stick.
Through
his label Roc Nation, the rapper has sent a missive to various
publications warning them he's removing the hyphen between the Jay
and the Z of his stage name.
The
artwork on his new album Magna Carta... Holy Grail already shows the
name change and now Jay Z is naturally following through with what he
started.
The
news was taken with some grains of humour among those associated with
the music industry.
Joe
Levy, editor of Billboard magazine, tweeted: 'Breaking: Jay Z has
dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not
kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note.'
