Though
Akindele has not personally made any public statement on the
breakdown of her marriage, she however joins the class of Celebrities
and artistes that have experienced failed marriages. On the
list are notable acts such as Ayo Adesanya, Kate Henshaw, Eucharia
Anunobi, Fathia Balogun, Monalisa Chinda, Doris Simon and Shan
George. Sadly, this list will continue.
What
is the
problem?
When
you marry for the wrong reaons; because your friends are getting
married, this is bound to happen.
When
you have the wrong concept of marriage, this is bound to happen; For
a woman, not willing to be submissive and for a man, not loving your
wife as much as you should.
When
you think that you can be married and still act as if you are single,
this happens.
When
you marry someone who is Conservative and you are with the New Age,
this happens.
When
you know how to lie a lot and you are caught, this happens.
When
you are married but majority of your friends are still single, this
happens.
When
you spend 2 years planning a Wedding Ceremony that last only for a
few days and take no time to plan to become MARRY-ABLE nor for the
marriage, this happens.
You
may be a star and celebrity to a lot of people but at home, you are
first and foremost a wife, husband, mother and father. You can't be
both at home; wife and celebrity.
When
you marry someone and you are thinking of someone else, this happens.
The number one reason why marriage break-up is because of
Alternative.
Where
there is no Alternative, people tend to try to work things out. This
does not include marriages where there is the presence of any form of
abuse: Physical, emotional, sexual or psychological. These are No
Nos.
If
you want to have a successful marriage, try to resolve issues because
they will surely arise. Keep your marriage issues personal to you,
don't do a 'Kiss and Tell'. It may work for a good Nollywood film but
it doesn't for a successful marriage. Don't share your issues with
your friends, try to resolve them with your partner. If you need
counseling, seek for it with your Minister or someone you really
trust. Words travels fast.
Bring
God into your marriage, it always helps. He created it, He knows how
to handle it and He will if you ask for His help.
But
remember, marriage was meant to last a life time not a pleasant time.
The ancient vows still stands: For better or for worst. You can
change the wordings but that would not change the reality.
