Despite his failing health, ailing producer, Babatunde Okungbowa popularly known as OJB Jezreel lived to see his 47th birthday but this is not the reason for his celebration. In an unprecedented move, Governor Rotimi Amaechi has surprised the singer with a donation of $100,000 on the eve of OJB’s birthday; the exact amount needed for his much needed kidney transplant abroad.
Head of the fund raising committee, Nomoreloss tweeted this, ‘I am in shock as more donations are coming in for #OJB seems its no longer SAVE OJB its now CELEBRATE OJB! They say its a BIRTHDAY GIFT!’
A
source close to the producer says OJB is currently at the Lagos State
University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) undergoing dialysis but hopes
to have a low-key celebration with a few family and friends if
discharged today.Fondly called ‘Jigga’ , OJB is a civil engineer
turned musician. The last child of a family of six, originally from
Agbor, Delta State, OJB grew up in Lagos and Kaduna.
In his over two decades stint in music, the producer has crafted hits for artistes like 2face Idibia, Paul Play, D’Banj, Wizkid, Sir Shina Peters, Omotola, Daddy Showkey, Solid Star, Goldie, Ruggedman, Azadus and hundreds of others.
