The
Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, is reporting that the four-seater airplane
owned by Global Aviation that took off Monday from Kano at 6 PM and was to
arrive at Douala, Cameroon by 11 PM did not disappear in Nigeria’s airspace.
An
officer of NAMA who preferred to remain anonymous revealed that the aircraft
had been handed over to the Cameroonian authorities before the incident
occurred.
Punch
Newspaper reports that the official revealed that “the incident happened in
Cameroonian airspace and it is not something that has to do with us here in
Nigeria.”
If
you recall, the News Agency of Nigerian was first to report that the plane had
disappeared, stating they got the information from Cameroon aviation sources.
The
plane did not make it to Douala. Search and rescue operations are still
underway but no positive results have been indicated yet.
