Super Eagles Victorious in defeat: Becomes First African Team to Qualify for the Knockout Round

The Super Eagles were beaten by Argentina in an entertaining game of football that kept everyone on their seats for 93 minutes.

A goal from Argentina’s Lionel Messi and an equalizer from Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa made history in the World Cup as the first time two oppositing countries would score within the first five minutes of a world cup match.

Joseph Yobo also made history for himself for having his 100 cap for Nigeria.
Argentina won the game 3 – 2 with Messi scoring a brace. Nigerian Musa also scored a brace in the match too. Messi scored his second at the end of the first half with a well taking free kick which beat Nigerian Super keeper, Vincent Enyeama who made some spectacular saves in the match to keep Nigerian in contention.

Musa scored his brace in the second minutes of the second half with a well taking goal.
The winning goal for Argentina came from a free kick taking by Di Maria and kneed by Rojo. Nigerian defense was to blame for that goal

Nigeria’s defeat didn't matter as Iran who had the chance of overtaking Nigeria to second place with a win were themselves beaten 3 - 1 by world cup new comers, Bosnia.
Even in defeat, the Super Eagles showed class but for some slack in defense, the match would have ended in a draw.

Am sure the boys will go far in this championship against whoever they meet in the knockout stages, which likely would be France.

Ahmed Musa is my Man of The Match but as expected, it was given to Messi.
