The
Managing Director of Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, says the
refinery would run at 100 percent capacity by 2015. He made this assertion at a
workshop organized by the company for energy correspondents in Kano on Friday.
Mohammed
said at present the plant operates at 60 percent capacity and this is due to
the improved operational efficiency of the company.
My
Take:
He
went on to say some other things but the one that concerns me and most
Nigerians is, can this be true? Can Nigeria come to a place where we would not
need to queue for fuel again? Can we buy petroleum products for the same price
or lowly year in and year out? After all, we both own and sell to other nations.
For
some time now we haven’t had fuel issues so perhaps they are really working on
improving the situation and making petroleum products more easily accessible for Nigerians and in a stable manner.
Anyhow, this will be a welcome development.
