Police discovers Ammunitions in Zamfara’s lawmakers’ House

On Tuesday residents of Gusau, Zamfara State were thrown into confusion following the discovery of assorted arms and ammunition in a serving lawmaker’s house (name withheld) by police officers.

The raid on the Lawmaker’s house was brought about following a tip-off by some persons who were arrested by the police in Kano State that they keep their arms and ammunitions in a lawmaker’s house in Zamfara.

A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the news of the findings in Gusau and neighbouring Tsafe town, sparked a pandemonium, resulting in gridlock traffic as motorists and residents were scampering for safety.

"We learnt that it was based on this revelation that the security operatives stormed his two houses in Tsafe town and Takama in Gusau metropolis" the source said.

It was also gathered that the development followed the questioning of one of the chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by security operatives last month over his alleged ties with cattle rustlers in the state.

Meanwhile, when the lawmaker was contacted, he said he had given a written statement to the police when he was invited for questioning, noting that he has nothing more to say.
DSP Lawal Abdullahi, the state police spokesperson confirmed the incident, and revealed that the raid was carried out by a special police team from Abuja, and declined answering further questions.

The enemy within is always deadlier than the one outside. The president has to understand this to be able to fight this Boko Haram insurgency effectively.
