Police Reverse Order banning “BringBackOurGirls” protest

What exactly is happening? Why all these back and forth pronouncement.

Yesterday we were told that the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) police command had banned all BringBackOurGirls protest in the nation’s capital Abuja, giving reasons for it and now today we are hearing from the spokesman for the Police, Mr. Frank Mba who addressed journalists at a news conference in Abuja that the police authorities had not issued any order banning peaceful assemblies and protests anywhere in the country.

He, however said the Inspector-General of Police only advised conveners of such gatherings to ensure they seek proper advice and guidance from the police before engaging on protest.

Meanwhile, the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaigners has filed a lawsuit against the police seeking 200 million Naira in damages and an order restraining the police from interfering with their protest.

Again, why this one story today and another the next. Please the Nigerian Police should get their acts together. If you want to ban the protest ban it and stand by your decision, don’t rush into decisions without thinking it over and then coming back to eat your vomit. Again am just saying, it would certainly boast your PR.
